What this temple is known for
On Bannerghatta Road just short of the national park entrance, with a gaushala inside the campus and its own parking. The complex is let out for weddings and mundan ceremonies. An evening aarti is held, though no time is published for it.
Worth knowing before you go
At around 270 reviews this is small next to the Delhi, Surat and Lucknow temples, but a sweep of the city turned up no larger Khatu Shyam shrine in Bengaluru. One place listing in circulation gives coordinates about seven kilometres north of the real site, in Gottigere; ours are checked against the temple's published plus code.
Festivals here
This temple does not publish a calendar of its own. Shyam Baba is honoured on the same days everywhere: Phalgun Mela in spring, the janmotsav on Devuthani Ekadashi, and every Shukla Ekadashi. Crowds in Bengaluru follow those dates.
The original temple
The shrine all of these follow is in Khatu in Sikar district, Rajasthan, where the head of Barbarika is said to have been found.
